Questions

Which devices does Foldcard run on?

iPhone with iOS 27 or later. It is designed around the iPhone Duo and works on every other iPhone too. There is no iPad version.

How do the iPhone Duo postures work?

Open: your PDF on one half and new cards on the other. This is where you make cards.
Closed: one-handed review on the outer screen. Folding the phone right after keeping cards starts a session with them (up to 10).
Half open on a desk: the card on the upper half and the rating buttons on the lower half, for hands-free review.

On an iPhone without a hinge the same screens are stacked in one column. Tap the library button on Today to open your sources.

How do I make a card from a PDF?

Add a PDF, open a page, highlight a sentence (or pick a suggestion under "Found on this page"), tap the words to hide and press Keep. You can also write a card by hand with "+".

Foldcard reads the PDF's text layer. A scanned page that is only an image has no text to read yet.

Can an AI tool make a deck for me?

Yes, on a Mac. Claude, Codex and Antigravity can save the cards straight into a deck on your iPhone, with Undo. How to make a deck with AI has the setup.

Why don't I see AI suggestions?

They need an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in iOS Settings and its model downloaded, and a page in a language the model supports. Foldcard's Settings shows the reason when they are unavailable, and has a switch to turn them off. Suggestions from the page's structure (bold terms, lists, tables) always work.

My cards don't appear on my other iPhone.

Both iPhones need to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud on.
PDFs sync through iCloud Drive, so turn on iCloud Drive as well.
Sync can take a few minutes, especially on the first launch or a slow connection. Opening the app on both phones helps.

I don't get the daily reminder.

Turn it on in Foldcard's Settings and allow notifications for Foldcard in iOS Settings › Apps › Foldcard › Notifications. The reminder only comes on days when cards are due, and not when you have already reviewed that day.

I deleted a card or a deck by mistake.

Right after deleting, tap Undo. Later, open Decks › Deleted and restore the card; it keeps its history and schedule. A card whose deck is gone asks which deck to go to. To remove cards for good, use Delete forever on a card in Deleted, or Delete all; that can't be undone.

Which languages does Foldcard support?

The app itself is in English. Your cards and PDFs can be in any language.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete the app to remove its data from your iPhone. To remove the iCloud copy too, go to iOS Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Storage (Manage Storage) › Foldcard. More in the privacy policy.
